Skeleton Key

April 19, 2013

You would think
That I would be safe,
Locked up tight, and
Set to never be
Opened again.
And there you were.
Your words pierced
Through me without
Hesitation, cutting
Across flesh and bone.
Your skeleton key,
Somehow retained,
Slid the tumblers
Up and down
Ever so precisely
Until… click!

My ribcage opens
Like long-forgotten
Priceless treasure;
Yours for the taking,
I have nothing
Left to hide.
