Notes and Measures

October 9, 2008

Separated only by time
As two notes in divided measures
All that keeps us apart is that thin dark line
But we both know what lies on the other side

Now, we have removed the line
We closed the distance between our lives
Our eyes meet, and in one embrace
I am changed.

The thought lingers, however
What if that line was not meant to be crossed
Should we bypass those set boundaries
For our own benefit, even if a mutual one?

Where once crept doubt, I now laugh.
That aged shadow has got nothing on Her smile
And where once an old man stood,
A boy is borne into a bright new world.
